Hackers gained access to the secure control panel of the autonomous system AIXBT, resulting in the theft of 55 ETH (approximately $107,000) from the Simulacrum wallet - a tool for building model portfolios. The bot's developer, Rxbt, confirmed the incident, stating that the attacker inserted two malicious responses that allowed the funds to be withdrawn. AIXBT is an autonomous AI agent launched in late 2024 on the Virtuals Protocol platform. The agent quickly became popular among traders as an analytical tool for market trends, with access provided through the purchase of the AIXBT token. Rxbt claims that the attack did not affect the core systems of the bot or its development, emphasizing that user funds were not harmed.

The developer also noted that the attacker did not manipulate the AI agent itself, as strict security measures had been implemented in recent months. In response to the incident, the development team migrated servers, changed access keys, temporarily suspended access to the control panel, and reported the hacker's addresses to cryptocurrency exchanges. AIXBT itself confirmed that the Simulacrum wallet was compromised, but this did not impact the core systems. A representative also assured users that security would be strengthened following the completion of the server migration. In another post, it was mentioned that the loss of 55 ETH is "not that serious" and compared the incident to a typical working day in the industry. Some users speculated that the theft could have been an inside job. In response, Rxbt stated that they are taking additional measures to enhance security.
