Bitcoin Overtakes Amazon in Market Cap to Become 5th in the World

Bitcoin has overtaken Amazon to become the fifth-largest asset in the world. On July 14, its market cap reached $2.42 trillion, while Amazon's was $2.38 trillion. Now BTC is second only to gold, Microsoft, Apple, and Nvidia.

The growth is supported by a steady influx of capital into spot ETFs: on July 10 alone, investors invested $1.17 billion. Sygnum Bank believes that Bitcoin is perceived as a hedge against global risks. Capriole and 10x Research attribute the interest to the legitimacy of the asset and concerns about the US budget deficit.

However, a sharp rise could increase short-term volatility: analysts warn of possible profit-taking by large holders.

Bitcoin Dominance Index Plummets

After updating its historical maximum above $123,000, Bitcoin corrected, and capital began to flow into altcoins. According to Bitfinex, the BTC Dominance Index fell by 6.9 percentage points in a week — the largest drop in 250 days. This is a signal of growing interest in more volatile assets.

Dogecoin has grown by 37% in 7 days, Ethereum, XRP, ADA and Solana — by more than 20%. The OTHERS index (all assets outside the top 10 and stablecoins) has added 35% in two weeks, restoring $85 billion in capitalization. More than 50 crypto assets from the top 100 have grown from 15% to 110%.

Bitfinex believes that for further growth BTC needs to overcome the profit-taking zone ($120K) and move to $136K - this is possible only with new institutional infusions or strong macroeconomic signals.

Steam Games Used to Steal Cryptocurrency

The EncryptHub group (also known as Larva-208) distributes malware through Steam games, Prodaft reported. The latest victim was the game Chemia, which was injected with HijackLoader, a tool for stealing data, including keys to crypto wallets.

The malware looked like a legitimate executable file and exploited trust in Steam. Before the infected game was removed, the number of victims could reach hundreds. Previously, the same virus was used in attacks on more than 600 companies around the world.

This is not an isolated case - similar schemes were previously found in Sniper: Phantom Resolution and PirateFi. Prodaft experts urge to be especially careful with little-known games on the platform.

Bitcoin vs. Ethereum: Samson Mow Predicts Mass Exodus from ETH to BTC

Jan3 CEO and well-known Bitcoin maximalist Samson Mow has offered a provocative opinion on the future of Ethereum. According to him, the current growth of ETH is only temporary, and once the price reaches attractive levels, large holders will start taking profits en masse to transfer funds back to Bitcoin.

Mow believes that many of the current Ethereum holders are early ICO participants or insiders who also have significant BTC reserves. Now they are moving some of their capital into ETH, which creates the appearance of demand and pushes the price up. However, according to Mow, this is a temporary strategy: once ETH grows enough, these same players will start selling it to strengthen their positions in Bitcoin.

Ted Pillows, a crypto investor and entrepreneur, partially agreed with Mow, admitting that ETH could experience local growth and even trigger a “mini-altcoin season.” However, he is also confident that in the long term, money will return to BTC, especially if its rate approaches $140,000.

At the same time, Anthony Sassano, co-founder of ETHhub, called Mow’s statements outdated criticism. In his opinion, such statements by Bitcoin maximalists only emphasize the strength of Ethereum and can become an additional bullish signal for ETH.
