This forecast was made by analysts who conducted research on trends in the darknet.

"Despite a surge in criminal activity on Telegram in 2024, they are likely to gradually return to forums. Administrators of shadow Telegram channels have reported that they are increasingly being blocked, which may prompt migration", the researchers stated.​

They also predicted new high-profile operations by law enforcement. According to experts, there will be more public arrests and cases of infrastructure dismantling in 2025. In response, criminals are expected to migrate to shadow forums, which require invitations for registration. At the same time, fragmentation of groups specializing in ransomware is anticipated. They will be forced to assemble small independent teams for specific tasks, complicating their tracking. Another trend will be the more active distribution of stealers and drainers under the "malware as a service" (MaaS) model.
