Fraudsters simply play on the person’s desire to get rich

Fraudsters began to use non-targeted financial advertisements to lure citizens to their networks, which are addressed not to a specific, but to a wide audience, do not contain specific information about the type of earnings or investments, but only a call like “Make money with us!”, said in an interview with RIA Novosti, the head of the Department of combating unfair practices of the Bank of Russia Valery Lyakh.

New fraud schemes include advertising of “financial” services without specifying certain information about the type of earnings or investments. After the pandemic, many Russians began to work remotely, it was bet that the Internet has become for many a source of information, including advertising.

Lyakh clarified that in the previous schemes, advertising almost always stipulated certain services or products, having received which you could allegedly get rich. Now the scammers simply play on the person’s desire to get rich, and how they leave it “behind the scenes,” he added.

Now the methods of swindlers have changed. “Many, indeed, during the pandemic worked remotely, were at home, and fraudsters took this into account,” Lyakh said. According to him, the attackers began to give targeted ads with simple appeals, like "Make money with us." At the same time, financial services in it are not directly advertised.
